At hack.RVA's new location we have 6 "Tall Kitchen Bag" trash cans in the front and middle areas and 2 "Rubbermaid Brute" trash cans in the Shop. Taking out the trash is every members responsibility. hack.RVA doesn't have any paid staff. This is part of how we maintain and keep our membership prices affordable for our community. Cleaning up after yourself and leaving things cleaner than you found them helps us all maintain an enjoyable ready to use workspace.

hack.RVA wants YOU... to take out the trash!

Please ensure that you keep all food waste in the front trash can next to the water fountain.

Taking out the trash is every members responsibility. hack.RVA doesn't have any paid staff. This is part of how we maintain and keep our membership prices affordable for our community. Cleaning up after yourself and leaving things cleaner than you found them helps us all maintain an enjoyable ready to use workspace.

Can Locations

  • 6 "Tall Kitchen Bag" trash cans in the front and middle areas (and one that takes the large black bags)

Taking Out The Trash

The Tall Kitchen Bags are located in the First bathroom.

The Contractor Bags are located in the Wood Shop in the Tan Cabinet beside the Roll Up door on the bottom shelf.

Do not put hazardous materials in the bin. That includes batteries, chemicals, and paint.

You can easily take out all Tall Kitchen Bag trash at hack.rva in 10 minutes or so.

  1. Get 4 Tall Kitchen Trash Bags from the front bathroom.
  2. Starting with the trashcan in the bathroom and working your way back to the trashcan at the laser cutter computer take out each bag and replace it with a new one. Empty bags do not need to be replaced.
  3. When complete, take all the bags to the back door in the shop.
  4. Ensure you have your fob, in case you get locked out.
  5. The door has a lever latch and a rotating deadbolt lock. Open the deadbolt by rotating. It will re-lock itself in 10 minutes!
  6. The trash goes into the "dumpster" in the middle. ONLY THE BIN IN THE MIDDLE belongs to hack.rva. Currently it has an Orange rectangle on it.
  7. You can re-lock the deadbolt. If you forget it will lock in 10 minutes.
