Filament Dryer

Keeping moisture out of your 3D printer filament is close to vital in many instances. Most filament is "hygroscopic" meaning it absorbs water. Because we're located in the notoriously humid state of Virginia, the option to heat filament to expel this ambient water is very useful. For this reason, if you're running into difficulties when 3D printing it is advisable to dry your filament

The Filament Dryer is a Gourmia Food Dehydrator model GFD1620.

Common temperatures for Filament Drying as referenced from Overture are

50 C for PLA for 7 hours

65 C for PETG for 7 hours

70 C for TPU 95A for 7 hours

75 C for ABS for 7 hours

75 C for ASA for 7 hours

If you somehow end up with the filament dryer showing temperature in freedom units, you can change back to Celsius by holding the temperature button until degrees C lights up. For some reason this is not in the manual, but units very much matter.
