Lincoln K2188-1

The equipment is obsolete and no longer made at Lincoln Electric Co.

Safety:

  • Wear safety gear when welding… it can burn your skin and/or your eyes.
  • Don’t wear flammable clothing… polyester, silk, etc
  • Ground your work piece!!
  • Only load and unload wire when the machine is OFF.
  • If you have a Pacemaker, don’t use the welder… best practice.
  • DO NOT weld on closed containers or anything pressurized
ANSI Standard Z49.1 covers welding and cutting safety extensively

General:

  • 17V, 70A output… this can kill you (ratings: 35A-88A and 29V max)
  • Wire speed (while welding) 0-300 in/min
  • Cut the wire on the end to around ½ “ before starting welding
  • Ground your work piece
  • Keep about 3/8 “between the tip and the work piece when welding

Wire:

  • up to 2lb spool
  • flux core
  • made for carbon and low-alloy steel (mild steel not to exceed 1/8” thick)
  • recommended wire, 0.035” diameter Lincoln Innershield NR-211-MP (again, only 2 lbs)

Location: In Fab Lab on welder cart.
