Keeping moisture out of your 3D printer filament is close to vital in many instances. Most filament is "hygroscopic" meaning it absorbs water. Because we're located in the notoriously humid state of Virginia, the option to heat filament to expel this ambient water is very useful. For this reason, if you're running into difficulties when 3D printing it is advisable to dry your filament

The Filament Dryer is a Gourmia Food Dehydrator model GFD1620.

Common temperatures for Filament Drying [https://overture3d.com/blogs/overture-blogs/how-to-dry-3d-printer-filament as referenced from Overture] are

50 C for PLA for 7 hours

65 C for PETG for 7 hours

70 C for TPU 95A for 7 hours

75 C for ABS for 7 hours

75 C for ASA for 7 hours

If you somehow end up with the filament dryer showing temperature in freedom units, you can change back to Celsius by holding the temperature button until degrees C lights up. For some reason this is not in the manual, but units very much matter.

			On West 7th Street, on the South of the river, we had a corner of a large loft on the second floor. Five or six businesses had other sections. Tricycle Gardens was one. They were all gone by the time we came on Thursday nights. We had a movie night once with a projectr and a very geeky movie. (Hackers?). We had no makerspace tools until Luke brought his Cupcake 3d printer. It had a tiny build plate, and no heated bed.

			There was a lot of talk about Linux and computers. Carlisle Childress demonstrated running a Mac Plus with an adapter for SCSI to an adapter to a Compact Flash card.

			Luke installed an RFID latch and got a RFID tag inserted under his skin.

			We did a class there. We borrowed folding tables and chairs from neighbors and bought kits for Drawdio, a 555 oscillator controlled through a lead pencil. It was well attended.

			There was a network of makerspaces growing, and they had a traveling junk box. A space got the box, kept wht they wanted, and packed up some of there own bits and parts or samples and sent it on to the next space.

			The dues were set at $30.

			Some members built a hack.RVA sign out of junk. Eventually the glue unstuck and pieces fell off. It was trashed.
